Breakfast

It is a daily dilemma.

Like most people, I go through phases during which I develop a routine – the same grab-and-go morning meal every day (except on weekends, which have their own routine. It is called BACON.) For months, I made these Nigella Lawson breakfast bars, which I loved and would still make, if only I hadn’t found out how many Weight Watchers points are in a can of sweetened condensed milk.

Lately though, I try to listen to what my body wants. Since returning from our honeymoon in South Africa, where the coffee is the consistency of Nutella, I am back on a tea kick.¬†(That reminds me… Must buy Nutella.)¬†Food-wise, I tend to crave one of two kinds of breakfast – egg, or cold.

‘Egg’ is usually some kind of spin on a fried egg on half of a sesame sprouted grain bagel from Trader Joe’s. Sometimes it’s with cheddar and prosciutto. This morning it was with burrata, basil, and cherry tomatoes.

‘Cold’ is pretty much always Kashi Honey Almond Flax cereal with 1% milk and a handful of blueberries, warmed in my hand because I don’t like cold blueberry on my teeth.
